Capital Investment Entrant Scheme
 


The HKSAR Government has launched the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme since October 27, 2003.  It aims to attract captial investment entrants to come to Hong Kong.  BOCI Securities is one of the eligible Financial Intermediaries in the Scheme.


Eligibility Criteria
  • Persons aged 18 or over
  • With net assets under their control and disposal for investment of not less than HK$10 million throughout the two years preceding his application
  • Foreign nationals except Afghanistan, Albania, Cuba and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea
  • Macao Special Administrative Region residents
  • Chinese nationals who have obtained permanent resident status in a foreign country
  • Stateless persons who have obtained permanent resident status in a foreign country with proven re-entry facilities
  • Residents of Taiwan

Permissible Investment Asset Classes

Specified Financial Assets
  • Equities -  Shares of companies that are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and

                   traded in Hong Kong dollars.
                -  Hongkong equity-base Exchange Traded Funds that are listed on the Hong
                   Kong Stock Exchange, namely:
     

                - 2800 (
    Tracker Fund of Hong Kong)
                      - 2825 (W.I.S.E. - CSI HK100)

                - 2828 (Hang Seng H-Share Index ETF)         - 2833 (Hang Seng Index ETF)
                - 2838 (Hang Seng FTSE / Xinhua China 25)

  • Debt Securities -  denominated in Hong Kong dollars including fixed or floating rate instruments and convertible bonds which are issued or fully guaranteed by the HKSAR Government or Hong Kong Stock Exchange listed companies
  • Certificates of Deposits
  • Subordinated Debt 
  • Eligible collective investment schemes (i.e. unit trusts or mutual funds)



Other Information

  • The applicant is not required to top-up the value of his investment should its Market value fall below the requisite minimum level of HK$10 million Net even in the event of a total loss. 
     
  • There should not be more than 14 calendar days elapse between the date of the contract for the sale of the permissible financial asset being sold and the date of the contract for the purchase of the reinvestment permissible finanical asset. The reinvestment value for the permissible financial asset should not be less than the gross amount of the proceeds from sale of the initial asset. (For instance, in the case of selling equities, the gross amount should not include Transaction Levy, Commission Fees and Stamp Duty.)
     
  • The applicant will initially obtain an Approval-in Principle from the Director of Immigration allowing to remain in Hong Kong as a visitor for 3 months.  Upon the satisfaction of the Director, the applicant will be granted a permission to stay as a non Hong Kong permanent resident for 2 years.  Further extensions for 2 years will be granted on the same conditions and on the same basis. 
     
  • The applicant may apply to become permanent resident of Hong Kong after a period of continuous ordinary residence in Hong Kong of not less than 7 years.
