China Connect refers to the securities trading and clearing links programmes developed by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), the China Connect Markets (ie. Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and Shenzhen Stock Connect (SZSE)) and China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited (ChinaClear), aiming to achieve a breakthrough in mutual market access between the Mainland and Hong Kong.

Under China Connect, The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (SEHK), a wholly-owned subsidiary of HKEX, and the China Connect Markets will establish mutual order-routing connectivity and related technical infrastructure to enable investors of their respective market to trade designated equity securities listed in the other’s market. The Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited (HKSCC), also a wholly-owned subsidiary of HKEX, and ChinaClear will be responsible for the clearing, settlement and the provision of depository, nominee and other related services of the trades executed by their respective market participants and investors.

Investors should refer to the HKEX website for the latest information and development of China Connect, which includes, but not limited to, the full list of eligible stock for China Connect; clearing, settlement and depositary arrangement for trading under China Connect; fees, levies, maximum cross-boundary investment quota and daily quota for trading under China Connect.

As the implementation of China Connect is subject to conditions, including regulatory approvals, completion of all necessary development work and market readiness, its establishment may or may not take place, or could be suspended or terminated at any time by the relevant regulatory bodies.
